WORKSHOPS 2026.

Workshop Dates for 2026 Are Here!
Over the past year, I’ve greatly enjoyed teaching my “From Observation” workshops.
The idea is simple and timeless: learning by recreating what you see.
Observation and translation are at the heart of it.
Where do you start? What do you see? What is it really about?
Each participant works on their own project, this might be a complete piece, an exploration of textures, or small test samples. Along the way, we discuss what’s happening in the felt, why it behaves the way it does, and share a variety of creative ways to solve challenges as they arise.
This relaxed, hands-on approach to studying and creating together suits me perfectly, and, more importantly, it seems to suit the participants just as well! I’m especially grateful to those of you who keep returning each year, allowing us to pick up right where we left off.

Upcoming “From Observation” Workshops
February 13–15 — De Steiger, Almere (NL)
We’ve had to say goodbye to our lovely venue in Nes aan de Amstel, but thanks to Rianne, we now have a wonderful new location: Bertina Slettenhaar’s warm and welcoming studio in Almere, perfect for a winter workshop.
For more information, email [email protected].
You’re welcome to discuss your ideas or project plans with me in advance.

June 29 – July 6 — Studio Felt and Fibers, Dordogne (FR)
Join me for a fully catered felt holiday at the beautiful farmhouse of Esther and Jan in the Dordogne. Expect delicious food, inspiring surroundings, and a week filled with creativity, a true celebration of felt-making!
More information: feltandfibers.com
As always, you can consult with me beforehand about your creative focus or project ideas.

September 11–18 — Studio Felt and Fibers, Dordogne (FR)
I’ll be back in France with Esther and Jan for a workshop dedicated to Shibori techniques - not in the traditional dyeing sense, but as a versatile sculptural method for shaping felt.
These techniques are essential to my spatial work and a wonderful way to create dynamic, three-dimensional forms from flat surfaces.
We’ll discuss your project ideas in advance so I can make sure all necessary materials are ready for you.

November 23–27 — Wollknoll, Oberrot (DE)
This five-day workshop builds on last year’s Kunstformen der Natur course at Wollknoll -but this time, we’ll be creating a wearable piece.
Drawing from my background in millinery, I’ll introduce techniques with hat wire and show how to strengthen felt using various stiffeners.
You can design and make your own headpiece or create another type of wearable sculpture of your choice.
